The Power of Incentives

Incentivize & Engage

At St. HOPE Public Schools, we believe that incentives play an important role in motivating our scholars to engage in their learning and strive for success. Our rewards system creates a positive reinforcement cycle that encourages our scholars to develop a strong work ethic and demonstrate positive behavior.

Each quarter, we offer incentives for our elementary and middle school scholars. Scholars earn points for upholding our core values of listening, respecting others, and working hard and at the end of the quarter they are rewarded with a field trip. Teachers in each grade level coordinate on the field trip and this quarter the outings include going to Capitol Bowl, Sky Zone, and The Guild Theater.

We’ve found that incorporating incentives into our school systems is beneficial, especially for scholars who may not otherwise feel motivated. Scholars who struggle academically or face personal challenges often find it difficult to stay engaged and are more likely to act out. The prospect of earning rewards serves as an additional source of motivation and encourages them to have positive behavior and stay on track. When used effectively, incentives create an environment where students feel supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. Our rewards system brings joy to our scholars, helps them bond with their peers and teachers, and provides them with the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom.
